Due to the timeline of the unpredictable weather this afternoon, after consultation with the National Weather Service and in an abundance of caution in an effort to get our students and buses off the roads before the weather threat, Valley will be dismissing students at 2 pm today.

This Saturday, Abby Davis went to IHSA Solo and Ensemble to perform her solo "Alice Blue Gown" in, you guessed it, a blue gown! All of her hard work paid off and she received a Division I "Excellent" rating. Please join us in congratulating Abby!

Orders for Wildcat and LVC tshirts are due to Mrs. Mayall this Friday!! If you need a new order form, please contact Mrs. Mayall!

Hats off to Ms. Gilpin’s amazing kindergarten crew!
These little readers rocked their Cat in the Hat hats on Tuesday as part of our Celebrate Reading – Dr. Seuss Week festivities.
This week at the elementary, we’re celebrating the joy of reading in a BIG way:
🧁 Monday – Cupcakes at lunch in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday
📚 Reading logs all week (PreK–2 tracking books read — including decodables and books read to them; 3–5 competing for most AR points!)
🍕 A Personal Pan Pizza for each class’s top reader
📖 Friday – Students get to choose a brand-new book from Mrs. Collier’s collection
So grateful to Mrs. Lori Harper for organizing this fun-filled week for our students.

There will be a dual credit night tomorrow, Wed. March 4 at 6:00 in the high school library. Anyone interested in learning more about dual credit opportunities is encouraged to attend.
Mrs. Weese’s High School English students shared their original and very creative children’s stories with Mrs. Page’s 4th graders and Mrs. McConkey’s 5th graders this morning (Monday 3/2). Our younger students listened closely for the theme and lesson in each story. After hearing so many creative, thoughtful pieces, they voted for their favorites:
🌪️ “Farmer Joe and the Tornado” by Oscar McLaren
🐾 “More Than Four Paws” by Hannah Uryasz
📖 “The Boy the System Forgot” by Ethan Lucas (not pictured)

This week in NFW & LVC athletics.

Big things happening in Mr. Harrison’s Technology Class today (Friday 2/27)! 🛠️
Parker Stuckey is pictured putting the finishing touches on some handcrafted wooden boxes. These are designed, precision-cut, and computer-engraved right here in class. From careful measuring and fine cuts to sanding, wood glue, and nail guns, students are gaining real-world skills while creating something both practical and sharp-looking.
Let’s just say… these are going to make some pretty great gifts for some pretty deserving people around here. 👀🎁

The LVC Athletic Cooperative is looking for an Assistant Dance Coach for the fall. You can find out more details here: https://aptg.co/M5LFTS

Hey Spoon River Valley FFA! Your friend and neighbor, Tommy the Tornado from Atown stopped by my house to say hi, and we came up with a fun guessing game to celebrate FFA week! We all know Beck’s Hybrids has some yummy popcorn so guess how many popcorn kernels are in the jar he’s holding! The closest guess will win a T-shirt and the gift basket he has!
Happy guessing and Happy FFA week! 💙💛
Thanks to Erin Featherlin of Beck's Hybrids for this opportunity.
Submit your guesses to Mr. Mayall by the end of the day on Friday, February 27th.

We were excited to welcome back former SRV graduate Aidan Kenyon while he's home on leave. Aidan shared his journey from college to ROTC to becoming a Navy Corpsman. He reminded our students that there are many paths to success and it's important to adapt when plans change. 🇺🇸⚓
